Osborn Maledon is a Phoenix, Arizona law firm. We are committed to this community and state. Increasingly, law firm mergers have dramatically reduced the presence of first-rate firms whose top priority is the success of their home communities. Osborn Maledon delivers experience, expertise and results on a par with national firms. But we also strive to deliver much more than clients can receive from the branch offices of firms whose primary focus lies elsewhere. While much of our practice for sophisticated clients is national and international in scope, our first commitment is to the growth, success and improvement of the community and state in which we live.
Osborn Maledon's commitment to the community is also expressed through the pro bono legal services and community service activities of our lawyers.
Pro Bono Services
- Osborn Maledon lawyers represented Timothy Ring, an Arizona man convicted of murder who argued that his death sentence was improper because it was imposed based on facts found by a judge, not a jury. One of our Members successfully argued the case before the United States Supreme Court, which handed down a landmark decision holding that death sentences may not be imposed based on factual findings made by judges alone.
- We provide legal assistance to Homeward Bound, a local philanthropy that provides transitional housing and services to families with children.
- We assist Body Positive, Inc., a community-based organization providing services to people with HIV, in connection with clinical trials, corporate, tax and real estate matters.
- We serve as General Counsel to the Grand Canyon Chapter of the American Red Cross.
- We represent a neighborhood organization called Barrios Unidos Airport Action Coalition in its efforts to win relocation assistance for residents near Sky Harbor Airport.
- With assistance from other local lawyers and law school faculty and staff, we manage and provide legal support to the Arizona Justice Project, an organization we helped create for the purpose of assisting convicted persons with claims of manifest injustice.
