Doug Dalton's 31-year practice has covered a wide range of civil litigation areas—ranging from representing a corporate defendant in a mineral rights case that resulted in what was then the longest jury trial in Arizona history (8 1/2 months) to representing the plaintiffs in a medical malpractice case that resulted in the largest personal injury jury verdict in Arizona history ($28 million). He has handled jury trials within the state of Arizona in Maricopa County Superior Court, Pima County Superior Court, Yavapai County Superior Court, Apache County Superior Court, and the U. S. District Court for the District of Arizona; he has represented clients in state and federal court litigation outside Arizona; and he has handled cases establishing various new legal standards, including insurance bad faith, Rawlings v. Apodaca, et al., 151 Ariz. 149, 726 P.2d 565 (1986), legal malpractice, Kremser v. Quarles & Brady, L.L.P., et al., 201 Ariz. 413, 36 P.3d 761 (App. 2001), and breach of fiduciary duty, Whetman v. IKON, 209 F.R.D. 94 (E.D. Pa. 2002); Whetman v. IKON, 191 F.R.D. 457 (E.D. Pa. 2000).
