NOMINEES FOR DIVISION ONE OF THE ARIZONA COURT OF APPEALS ANNOUNCED.

The Commission on Appellate Court Appointments has recommended six nominees to Governor Jan Brewer for two openings on Division One of the Arizona Court of Appeals.

The nominees for the opening created by the retirement of Judge Daniel Barker are Randall M. Howe, Republican, Deputy Appellate Chief with the United States Attorney’s Office; Foster Robberson, Republican, a Partner with the law firm of Lewis and Roca LLP; and, Maria Salapska, Independent, a sole practitioner in the Law Office of Maria Salapska, PLLC.

The nominees for the opening created by the resignation of Judge Patrick Irvine are Judith R. Schaffert, Republican, a Staff Attorney for the Arizona Supreme Court; Samuel A. Thumma, Republican, a Judge in the Maricopa County Superior Court; and, Lori L. Voepel, Democrat, a Partner with the law firm of Jones, Skelton & Hochuli, PLC.

Governor Brewer will appoint the new judges.
