The Governor’s office announced the appointment of Judge Andrew Gould and John Lopez to the Arizona Supreme Court.  The two new justices fill two open seats created by the legislature’s recent expansion of the court to seven justices.  Judge Gould has been a judge on Division One of the Court of Appeals since 2012.  Before that, he served as a judge of the Yuma County Superior Court and as a prosecutor in Yuma and Maricopa Counties.

Lopez is currently the Solicitor General in the Arizona Attorney General’s office.  Lopez previously spent 12 years at the U.S. Attorney’s Office and has served as a legal advisor with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Regime Crimes Liaison Office in Iraq.
