Eleven individuals applied to fill the vacancy on Division One of the Arizona Court of Appeals created by the appointment of Justice Beene to the Arizona Supreme Court.

Eleven individuals applied to fill the vacancy on Division One of the Arizona Court of Appeals created by the appointment of Justice Beene to the Arizona Supreme Court.  The diverse applicant pool includes a number of superior court judges from Maricopa County as well as a public servant and two private practitioners:

  • Michael S. Catlett of Quarles & Brady, LLP
  • Hon. Christopher A. Coury, a Maricopa County Superior Court Judge
  • Rusty D. Crandell of the Office of the Arizona Attorney General (supplement)
  • Hon. David B. Gass, a Maricopa County Superior Court Judge
  • Andrew M. Jacobs of Snell & Wilmer, LLP (supplement)
  • Hon. Daniel J. Kiley, a Maricopa County Superior Court Judge
  • Hon. Joseph P. Mikitish, a Maricopa County Superior Court Judge
  • Hon. Jay M. Polk, a Maricopa County Superior Court Judge
  • Kristina B. Reeves of Reeves Maxwell Law
  • Hon. Joshua D.  Rogers, a Maricopa County Superior Court Judge

The Commission on Appellate Court Appointments will review the applications and hear comments at a public meeting on June 25, 2019, interview selected applicants on July 17, 2019, and send at least three candidates to Governor Ducey, who will then have 60 days within which to make his selection.
