Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee
The firm’s diversity, equity and inclusion committee is charged to develop and promote firm-wide strategies to strengthen diversity and inclusion. The committee focuses on recruiting, retention, and personal professional development.
Leadership Council on Legal Diversity
The firm is a member of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (“LCLD”), an organization of corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners dedicated to a truly diverse profession. We are proud to support the council’s mission “to continue the work of the Call to Action initiative by having organizations hire, retain, promote, and engage the best talent. A critical and necessary element of having the best talent is having diverse talent.”
LCLD – First Year Law Students Scholars Program
The firm participates in the LCLD First Year Scholars Program. Through this program, selected first-year law student Scholars participate in individual and group mentoring, attend an annual summit conference, and have access to the national LCLD network.
LCLD – Pathfinder Program
The firm participates in the LCLD Pathfinder program. The Pathfinder program is designed for diverse, high-potential, early career attorneys and focuses on providing participants with tools for developing and leveraging professional networks, foundational leadership skills, and career development strategies. Participants attend two in-person meetings, complete five e-learning modules and receive formal and informal mentoring.
LCLD – Fellows Program
The firm also participates in the LCLD Fellows Program, a year-long leadership training course designed to elevate the career trajectories of high-potential attorneys. Its focus is on developing key competencies, professional branding, relationship building, and transformational leadership while exposing Fellows to preeminent leaders in the legal field. The objectives of the program are both professional excellence and maximum organizational impact.
Center for Legal Inclusiveness
The firm supports CLI and firm leadership and attorneys have participated in CLI training.
ABA Judicial Internship Opportunity Program
The firm partners with the ABA Judicial Internship Opportunity Program. The Program places top-tier diverse law students with leading judges for summer internships.
Job Fairs
We also sponsor conventions for diverse student associations and participate in programs to help diverse law students prepare for job searches.
Bar Leadership Institute of Arizona
The firm participates in and sponsors the Bar Leadership Institute of Arizona. The Institute’s mission is to increase diversity of all kinds among the leadership of the Arizona State Bar.
Sponsorship and Support of Bar Associations and Diversity Focused Organizations
The firm sponsors and supports several bar associations and organizations focused on supporting diverse individuals including, among others, the Arizona Women Lawyers Association, one n ten, Human Rights Campaign, Equality Arizona, Arizona Asian American Bar Association, Native American Bar Association of Arizona, Xico, Inc., Lambda Legal Defense & Education Fund, and the American Jewish Committee. The firm sponsors the Arizona State Bar’s Diversity and Inclusion programming at the annual convention. The firm has also signed the UNITY Pledge, a campaign by Arizona businesses and individuals to advance workplace equality and equal treatment in housing and hospitality for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender individuals and their allies. Many of our attorneys also devote their time and talents to organizations committed to increasing diversity and inclusiveness in the Phoenix community. One of our members serves on the national board of an organization committed to the civil rights of LGBT people and those living with HIV.
