Osborn Maledon attorney Larry Hammond receives federal award

June 4, 2015

Larry Hammond, a partner with the Phoenix law firm, Osborn Maledon, P.A., will receive the prestigious 2015 American Inns of Court Professionalism Award for the Ninth Circuit in July.

The American Inns of Court award in part recognizes Hammond’s work to establish the Arizona Justice Project, which he has chaired since inception. The project is the fifth oldest Innocence Project in America and has helped secure the release from prison of over 20 Arizona inmates.

With a 35-year career in the private sector, Hammond specializes in white-collar and criminal defense, and complex civil litigation. Prior to joining the private sector, he served as the First Deputy in the Office of Legal Counsel at the U.S. Department of Justice and as an Assistant Watergate Special Prosecutor. He clerked for two U.S. Supreme Court Justices–Hugo L. Black and Lewis F. Powell, Jr.

The American Inns of Court Professionalism Awards are presented in participating federal courts to a lawyer or judge whose life and practice “display sterling character, unquestioned integrity, and dedication to the highest standards of the legal profession and the rule of law.” Hammond will receive the award at the Ninth Circuit’s judicial conference. Recipients also will be recognized in October at the 2015 American Inns of Court Celebration of Excellence at the U.S. Supreme Court.

The American Inns of Court fosters excellence in professionalism, ethics, civility, and legal skills. More information is available at www.innsofcourt.org.
