Phoenix Attorney Named ‘Best Corporate Lawyer’

February 18, 2009

Tom Curzon, a partner at the Phoenix law firm of Osborn Maledon, P.A., has been named as the “Phoenix Best Lawyers Corporate Lawyer of the Year” for 2009 by Best Lawyers, the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession.

After more than a quarter of a century in publication, Best Lawyers this year is designating “Lawyers of the Year” in high-profile legal specialties in large legal communities. These specialties are banking law, bet-the-company litigation, corporate law, family law, personal injury litigation, and real estate law. Only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community is being honored as the “Lawyer of the Year.”

Curzon’s practice focuses primarily on serving as outside general counsel to emerging, growth-oriented companies and on entrepreneurial transactions. His expertise includes venture capital and securities, entity formation and transaction structuring, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, initial public offerings, corporate governance, licensing and distribution of software and other products, employee matters, and executive compensation. His clients have included well-known local successes SalesLogix, NetPro Computing, and IT Toolbox, and currently include iCrossing and rising young start-ups such as Infusionsoft, Flypaper Studio, Rim Tec, and bulbstorm.

Osborn Maledon’s corporate group, led by Curzon and his partner, Bill Hardin, is widely recognized as one of the leading Arizona firms focused on the venture capital and entrepreneurial arenas.

Best Lawyers compiles its lists control outstanding attorneys by conducting exhaustive peer-review surveys in which thousands of leading lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers. The current, 15th edition of The Best Lawyers in America (2009), is based on more than 2.5 million detailed evaluations of lawyers by other lawyers.

The lawyers being honored as “Lawyers of the Year” have received particularly high ratings in surveys by earning a high level of respect among their peers for their abilities, professionalism, and integrity.

Steven Naifeh, Managing Editor of Best Lawyers, said, “We inue to believe – as we have believed for more than 25 years – that recognition by one’s peers is the most meaningful form of praise in the legal profession. We would like to congratulate Tom Curzon on being selected as the ‘Phoenix Best Lawyers Corporate Lawyer of the Year’ for 2009.”
